Old Habits Die Card Instagram Hop

When Claire (@claires_card_on) posted about this challenge, I knew I had to join in! The challenge was to pick a project you created, from at least one year ago, and re-do it. Trust me, I had lots of projects to choose from!

I decided to go with this simple happy birthday card. This card was my first attempt at using Copic markers. I won a few markers and this adorable stamp set from Hello Bluebird. I had no idea how to use Copics but I knew I really liked them after playing a bit with them.

Here is the re-done version of my card!

I’ve learned a little bit more about Copic markers since I made that card back in 2018. I decided to not go with shades of pink on the piggy and instead, I used some of my “E” markers. Here is the combo I used: E000, E00, E11, E13 and R01. I really liked how my piggy turned out this time!

I changed up the layout, just a tiny bit and also changed the color of the balloon. I think I prefer the purple balloon! What do you think?

My original card had green, gingham patterned paper. I really liked that paper, but I did not have any more in my stash. So I decided to stamp the pattern with this sweet, tiny gingham stamp. I really love this stamp by Studio 490 for Stampers Anonymous.

I decided I wanted to add some texture to this card, so I used a plaid embossing folder in the background.

Lastly, I added more words to the sentiment banner. The sentiments that came with this Hello Bluebird set are so cute – I had to use one!

I really enjoyed this challenge. I might just have to re-do some other cards now!

Hope you have a wonderful weekend 💗

  1. What a great idea for a challenge! Your original was so cute, but Wow! You’ve sure come a long way with Copic coloring!
