Oh Deer!

Those who know me, know I am not a fan of reindeer cars. You know what I’m talking about – cars or vans that have antlers on top and a red nose on the front. A good friend of mine sent this to me recently. It made me laugh because it’s exactly how I feel 😜!

Each year I count how many of those cars or vans I see. I’m up to 13.5 so far. (The .5 is for a car that only had its nose…antlers missing. My daughter calls those clown cars!) In years past, I would have seen at least 20, but because I’m not going out as much, I’m not having as many opportunities to spot them.

But when Lawn Fawn released this adorable stamp set, I knew I had to have it. I am a fan of cute reindeers! Here’s the card I created.

For this card, I used the Lawn Fawn sets: “Car Critters,” “Car Critters Christmas Add On,” Stamptember “Snow Bunnies,” and “Violet’sABS’s.” To begin, I stamped all of the images in Momemto Tuxedo Black ink and copic colored them. Next, I die cut the images and started thinking about how I wanted my layout to look. I decided to use the “Slimline Forest Border” to create some interest in the background. I die cut it out of white cardstock and then copic colored the little pine trees. I wanted my sentiment to say “Oh Deer!” so I made the sentiment out of “Violet’s ABC’s” and stamped it in red ink to match the reindeer nose on the car. For assembly, I cut a piece of kraft cardstock and then a piece of patterned paper from the Lawn Fawn paper pack “Let it Shine.” Next, I layered the piece with the tree line on top of the patterned paper. I made the road out of grey cardstock and lightly inked the edges with Ranger Picket Fence Distress Ink. Then, I added the road and the trees to the card and then the reindeer car. I added foam to the back of the car for some dimension. Lastly, I added some white gel pen to some of the images and then glitter gel pen to the snow line.

So, even though I am not a fan of reindeer cars, I think I would love seeing reindeers driving a reindeer car. What about you? Does your car have antlers on it right now?!?
