Background Bowl Challenge 2020

A group that I’m in decided we wanted to try something different. One of the members said she had a bunch of backgrounds that needed used. She thought it would be fun to randomly select a background and mail it out to each of us. Then we needed to create a card utilizing her background. Sounds fun, right?

It was! Here is the background that was sent to me:

Isn’t it pretty? I’m not sure if this was created with a stencil and glitter paste or some other way. When I saw it, I immediately thought about a lady bug stamp set and how cute that would be with it. I was thinking about diecutting out a large flower from the red and black background. Unfortunately, every die I laid on there did not look right. 😔. Then I thought about drawing a flower and fussy cutting it out. But, I was too afraid I’d ruin the background.

Instead, I decided to use the lady bug set ( from Lawn Fawn ) and use the background as a background. Not super creative, but I think the colors work well together.

For the images, I Copic colored each item and then I added glossy accents to the lady bug wings.

I still had a nice piece of the background left, so I decided to make another card! Call me an over achiever lol! I’m sorta obsessed with these gnomes from Simon Says Stamp. I thought the pattern would look cute on their hats. I decided to go with a winter scene ( since it’s been in the 90’s here!).

For the sentiment, I used a phrase from Simon Says Stamp Sentiment Strips. I wish I was hangin’ with my gnomies! Hopefully soon our little group of crafters can get together again. I really miss our monthly meetings.

I’m the mean time, stay safe and stay healthy!
