Let’s Celebrate National Hot Cocoa Day

I thought I would celebrate by creating a hot cocoa card!

Have you ever had trouble with your embossing powder? I have read that after some time, some powders can go bad. Have you experienced this? I used my go-to white embossing powder, but I did not like how it embossed. It looked bubbly and didn’t melt well. I tried embossing again and had the same result. So I ended up re-stamping and embossing with a brand new powder. I liked the results much better! I think it’s time for me to get rid of that older powder

For my card, I used the following products:

~My Favorite Things Hug in a Mug stamp set for the sentiment

~Two different sets from Pixie Dust Designs: Snowman Mug and Reindeer Mug

~Ranger Stardust Stickles

~Ink on 3 Arctic White Ultra Fine Embossing Powder

~Ranger Distress Ink in Peeled Paint

How will you celebrate National Hot Cocoa Day?

  1. I have EP that are over 20 years old and still are fine much to my surprise, but idk about all of them in my basket. I also don’t emboss very often. Lol. Your card is so cute!! No plans for national hot cocoa day, but … good excuse to have some now that I know about it. My son would like that. Lol

  3. Love the colors on the dark back background! Great card for National Cocoa Day!
I do have some old embossing powders, but haven’t tried to use them in ages! You have me curious to test them!
I’ll be sure to have a hot cocoa later today!

  4. I am all in for hot chocolate season! I love the contrast of your merry and bright colors with the black background! I have had issues with embossing powders not performing well (for me it just weren’t sticking well – I thought maybe there was too much anti-static powder that had gotten put into the jar along with the leftover powder, but I know it wasn’t a big name in the crafting industry so it could have just “gone bad”).
Anyway, I appreciate you sharing your struggles along with your final lovely design! It makes me really appreciate how hard we all work to create!

  5. What a fabulous mug of cocoa, love the green on the black, really stands out!! I have a ton of EB powder, hope it doesn’t go bad, I used to work for Sparkle N Sprinkle so I think I have every color imaginable and more, guess I should start using it more often!!

  6. This mug of hot cocoa looks so yummy! I haven’t noticed my embossing powders going bad. I have heard that you might get smoother embossing if you heat it from underneath the card stock.

  7. I had a white and clear EP that went bad but I do think they were 10-15 years old. Went through about 8 years of not crafting much but I am back at it now. I love this green mug! Gorgeous 😍

  8. I didn’t know that Embossing Powders go bad. I always have trouble with white embossing powder. Yours came out beautifully. I love the texture on the mug. Great work!
